Day 16 – Colonia

The bus ride from Montevideo to Colonia was around 2 hours and I managed to sleep the whole journey. πŸ™‚

The hotel we are staying in is really cute and even has a little roof terrace overlooking the ocean. We dumped our bags and headed straight out for breakfast.

Colonia is a really pretty town (its actually classed as a city but is smaller than the buzzard) not dissimilar to Paraty in Brazil. We walked around the old town and around the coast taking in the sights. It’s a pretty chilled day today, some of the rest of the group hired golf carts to explore the other side of the city but I opted for a nice long shower and a bit of pampering πŸ˜‰

We had a couple of drinks on the roof terrace and watched the sun go down before heading out to dinner at El Drugstore (a wierd name for a restaurant I know) which was a quirky little place in the old town. They have old cars outside which have been converted to a two person dining table – very cute but we opted for the warmer option and stayed inside. I was in the mood for stodgy food so went for the chicken with mashed potato which was probably the best mash potato I’ve ever tasted!

Another early start tomorrow so early to bed. We’re off to Buenos Aires where the party really begins!
